Seen HIM? Newark Police Seek Man For Role In Armed Gas Station Robberies

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 21-year-old Newark man wanted for armed robberies at a pair of gas stations, authorities said.

Maleak Williams and two other suspects took money from the cash register at the Exxon station on the 1400 block of McCarter Highway around 6:15 a.m. before fleeing in a black 4-door Lexus on Aug. 3,  Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.

Approximately 10 minutes later, another armed robbery was reported at the Sunoco Gas Station on the same block, authorities said. Williams and the two other stole cash from the register and fled southbound on McCarter Highway in the Lexus, Ambrose said.

One of the suspects was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, another had on all black clothing and a third suspect was wearing a blue tie-dye hooded sweatshirt.

Williams is approximately 5 feet and 6 inches tall, and is known to frequent the Georgia King Village housing complex. He has brown eyes, black hair, a medium brown complexion, police. said.

He has a history of stolen automobiles and armed robberies.
